Artist Statement
My recent exhibition is titled ‘Architectural Fiction’. Inspiration stems from artists whose work is architectural in nature and from architects who have created works of art. Specifically, the work of Agnes Martin, Gordon Matta-Clark, Robert Mangold, Piranesi, Jeanne Gang, Frank Gehry and others have provided the impetus to experiment with new encaustic techniques that I have learned.
Architectural elements are prominent in all of my work, past and present. Custom architectural molding, or running trim, has also been an influencing factor in this recent body of work.
